Garshana Treatment:

  1. Avoid showering with very hot water, exfoliating further in the shower, and using harsh soaps or cleansers
  2. Avoid strenuous activity and stress to allow your body to integrate the benefits of the treatment.
  3. Allow yourself time to rest and relax.
  4. Avoid strenuous activities and stressful situations.
  5. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  6. It is recommended to dry brush before shaving. Dry brushing helps exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and potentially preventing ingrown hairs, which can lead to a smoother shave and reduce irritation.

Self Dry Brushing

After Garshana (Ayurvedic dry brushing), it’s beneficial to shower, preferably without soap, to remove dead skin cells and open pores, then follow with a warm oil massage (Abhyanga) using sesame or coconut oil. This helps nourish the skin and further supports lymphatic drainage. A restful evening and easily digestible food are also recommended.

  1. Rinse with Warm Water: After dry brushing, take a warm shower to rinse away dead skin cells and debris.
  2.  Optional: Soap Use: can be used optionally, but it’s generally recommended to avoid it as it can dry out the skin. If you choose to use soap, focus on areas that need it most or if you feel particularly oily.
  3.  Follow with Abhyanga (Warm Oil Massage): Apply warm, herbal oil (like sesame or coconut oil) to your skin to nourish and hydrate it after the dry brushing. This is known as Abhyanga in Ayurveda and can be very soothing after Garshana (dry brushing).
  4.  Rest and Digest: Eat a meal of freshly cooked, easily digestible food and have a restful evening.
  5.  Early Bedtime: Aim to go to bed early to allow your body to fully benefit from the Garshana (dry brushing) and Abhyanga (warm massage) practices.

Pay attention to how your body responds to the treatment and adjust your aftercare routine accordingly.
