DIVE DEEPER BENEATH THE SKIN……
WHAT THE SKIN?
Skin is the body’s largest organ, a protective barrier covering the entire external surface, made up of several layers, and plays a crucial role in protection, temperature regulation, sensation, and more.
- Protection: The skin acts as a shield against external factors like bacteria, viruses, UV radiation, and physical injury.
- Temperature Regulation: It helps regulate body temperature by sweating and constricting blood vessels.
- Sensation: The skin contains nerve endings that allow us to feel touch, pressure, pain, and temperature.
- Vitamin D Synthesis: When exposed to sunlight, the skin produces vitamin D, which is essential for bone health.
- Fluid Balance: The skin helps prevent excessive water loss from the body.

Layers of the Skin:
- Epidermis: The outermost, thin layer, which is constantly shedding and regenerating.
- Dermis: The middle layer, containing blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, and sweat glands.
- Hypodermis: The deepest layer, composed of fat and connective tissue, which insulates the body and anchors the skin to underlying tissues.

BODY BRUSHING & SKIN
Body brushing has a ton of benefits! Think of the baby layer of your skin like a plump, juicy grape. 🍇 The teenage layer is the thickest part, where the cells start changing shape and harden with keratin. Then you’ve got the adult layer, where the cells break down and help keep stuff from getting absorbed through your skin.

Dying Skin: The outer layer of skin cells starts to break down, which helps prevent absorption and reduces water loss. Imagine a juicy grape flattening in size—that’s what happens to the skin.
Dead Skin: Now, the cells are completely dead, making up the layer we see and touch. That juicy grape has become a dried-out raisin.

You might think that being 18 to 30 means you’re fine… But factors like illness, smoking, hormone issues, and sun exposure can slow you down. Signs of dull skin or premature aging could indicate that your body’s process isn’t working as well as it should.

This is why we do things to exfoliate to speed it up again.
BODY CIRCULATION & LYMPHNATIC SYSTEM
The lymphatic system plays a key role in the body. It collects excess fluid from tissues, filters it, and sends it back to the bloodstream, where it’s known as lymph. Its main jobs include:
- Maintaining fluid balance by collecting and filtering tissue fluid.
- Absorbing fats from food and transporting them to the blood.
- Producing lymphocytes to help fight disease.
